The Southwestern Region

The purpose of the Southwestern Region is to advance music therapy and increase access to quality music therapy services. The goals of the Region are as follows:

  • Provide music therapists with professional development opportunities.
  • Support AMTA through committee representation and participation in the Assembly of Delegates.
  • Further awareness and acceptance of music therapy as an allied health profession through job development, public relations, and legislative action.
  • Promote community among members of the Region.

What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.
